This May, South Padre Island, Texas will host the Shallow Sport Owner’s Tournament for its 24th year. This has become a highly anticipated event where the Shallow Sport community gathers on the gorgeous island to enjoy the pristine waters of the Lower Laguna Madre and partake in a friendly competition to see who can land the best stringer. Redfish, Speckled Trout, and Flounder are targeted by young and seasoned anglers alike.

What started as a handful of local fishing guides from South Padre Island has grown into one of the nation’s largest saltwater owners fishing tournaments, drawing thousands of participants from several different states. The Shallow Sport community has grown considerably since the tournament’s conception, dating back to the 1980s, and the fellowship, friendships and years of tradition continue to flourish. Each year the event grows as an anticipated 300 boats, 900 anglers and their families and friends will spectate and compete this year.

Guided, Non-Guided, & Youth divisions will all procure trophies along with bragging rights until next year’s event and all youth anglers will be given a participation trophy to commemorate their fishing endeavors. The proceeds of this event allow Shallow Sport the ability to award $20,000+ in scholarships to deserving college students every year. At the end of the awards banquet on Saturday evening one lucky individual will win a brand new 2024 Shallow Sport 24′ Classic with a Suzuki 250hp Motor & McClain Trailer!

We can’t wait to see you there!
