We are traveling in for the tournament, where should we stay?
South Padre Island has many beautiful resorts, hotels, and vacation rentals available. Please visit Accommodations for promo codes with our local partner rentals and hotels.
If this will be your first time visiting the island, we recommend you start your search at www.SoPadre.com.
Our events will be held at the South Padre Island Convention Center and Louie’s Backyard. Due to the bay side locations for check in and weigh in, many find it easy to stay close by. Though the island is easily traveled and most places are boat owner friendly. Give them a call and let them know you will have your boat or trailer and they can help you with parking arrangements!
Where can we launch our boat?
The South Padre Island area has several boat ramps available. Many of our tournament participants use the boat ramp at Jim’s Pier, because of its close proximity to Louie’s Backyard. Jim’s Pier also rents out wet slips, so you can keep you boat in the water throughout the weekend. There are also ramps available at Isla Blanca Park & Parrot Eyes.

We heard there were some rule changes, what are they?
- Anglers will register under the Guided or Amateur division. At registration they will specify whether they will be fishing with Artificial Only, or Open Bait. If a team is registered as “Artificial Only” there will be NO other bait allowed on the boat. If a boat is seen fishing with, or in possession of any bait other than artificial they will be immediately disqualified.
- Just like last year, weigh in will be per team instead of per angler. This means that each team is able to weight in 3 fish made up of (1) Redfish, (1) Speckled Trout and (1) Flounder. Visit our Awards page to learn more about trophies.
- All updated rules can be found at: RULES
What can I expect from pre and new registration on Friday of the event?
We expect most of the slots for registration will sell out again. Please take this into consideration and PLAN AHEAD!
Fully pre registered teams and Social Participants will be able to pick up their team numbers beginning at 4:30pm at the South Padre Island Convention center.
New Registration and changes to existing teams will open at 5:30pm. At this time additional anglers and teams may be purchased.
What is the Captains Meeting, and who needs to go?
The Captains Meeting will be held at 7:00 pm in front of the stage. At this meeting we will go over the rules of the tournament and give out any directions or changes that may have taken place, and answer any questions regarding the tournament. At least 1 person from each team MUST be present at the meeting.
We will go over all rule changes in detail. Please make sure you are there and attentive!
